      Franne's Beauty Favorites

      Franne's Beauty Favorites

These are a few of my favorite things!

When I was fifteen I worked weekends at my stepfather's department store behind the makeup counter. It didn't feel like a job to me, because it was so creative. Everything was at my fingertips and I tried it all! Yardley eyeliner & shadow, every color, Eyelure lashes, Helena Rubenstein pressed and compact powders, Revlon and Yardley lipstick, Coty lipstick, Coty Blusher, etc. etc. etc... Whatever came in I tried it. Didn't everything need a Tester? That was the beginning of my love affair with makeup and it never really stopped.

I'm always trying new things and these are my latest and greatest finds:

      Base:

I get a lot of compliments on my skin and although I think it's partly due to good genes, I also make sure to keep it protected. I'm not a fan of most sunscreens with their tell-tale odor and too greasy or too dry feel. The thought of putting base over it? No! I choose to wear mine as a tinted base moisturizer, so it's all in one!

      My favorite is:

CHANEL Perfection Lumiere Velvet Smooth Effect makeup with Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen.
I wear it day and night. I love the texture and I like to keep it simple! It's lightweight, oil-free, matte-velvet finish lasts all day. My dermatologist says whenever you wear a sunscreen combo base you get an extra layer of protection. Sounds good to me!

      Highlighter:

I usually wear highlighter, some lip gloss, and I'm good to go. However if I'm going to meetings or in the mood for a little extra, I add:

      CHANEL Highlighter Face Pen
Light-coverage concealer, highlighter and complexion-brightener all in one. Reduces the appearance of fine lines and de-emphasizes dark circles. It's a brush-on formula and blends perfectly. I also like Touche Eclait by Yves Saint Laurent, which is almost identical, but a bit lighter coverage.
If I'm going out in the evening, after my shower I re-apply my base and substitute the CHANEL Highlighter Pen for CORRECTEUR PERFECTION. It's a heavier version of the face pen and goes on with a wand instead of a brush. I use it under eyes, frown lines and wherever I want highlights.

      Blush:

      NARS- Cheek and Lip Color
When I was a little girl and watched my mother put on makeup, I noticed that she always wore cream rouge. "It makes you glow. Powder dries you out." She said. I listened. My favorite is NARS! I wear Malibu. What? It's discontinued?! Hmm I'll have to find a new shade, but I'm sticking with NARS.

      Eyes:

Most days I keep it simple which equals no eye makeup, but when I do:

      Brows:
      Brow Wiz by Anastasia
Love the ultra-slim, retractable pencil that creates hair-like strokes. Fine tip to spot fill areas where brown hair is sparse, and the custom spooley end to blend for a flawless finish. Thanks you Anastasia!

      Shadow:
CHANEL Les Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow
I like 224 Tisse Rivera. I was hesitant about these colors at first, but they are now my faves.

      Mascara:
If I'm going out in the evening or sometimes during the day and I'm lazy, I love to just put on a little mascara. It can make all the difference.
      CHANEL Le Volume Mascara
Instant Volume. It goes on beautifully, looks thick but NOT heavy and no clumps. Great brush that separates lashes as it goes on. A pretty perfect mascara! Of course I always keep a backup of Maybelline Great Lash- and old favorite since high school.
      .
      .
      .

      .
And last but not least- Lips:

LIPSTICK – One of my weaknesses and a great mood enhancer. A little treat to yourself that doesn’t break the bank!
      My current faves:
      LAURA MERCIER Dry Rose
      MAC Amorus
Sometimes I tone it down with
      Wet & Wild Nudist Colony
I also like – Nudist Colony under
CHANEL Lip Gloss 108, Constellation. It has a bit of sparkle. My mod look!
Lip Gloss is a good hydrator and conditioner on its own and I love adding a dab to the center of the lip after putting on my favorite lipstick.

Another thing my mom told me, was to never go to bed with makeup on. Well I can’t say I’ve never, but 99% of the time I take the time to remove it and it makes a big difference. I use Neutrogena makeup remover towelettes. I buy the box of 114 at Costco for $14.99. For those of you who are calculating, that’s $0.132 per towelette. I think you’re worth it! I follow that with a very warm wash cloth. Super relaxing after a long day…..

      Till next time!

      Celebrations

      Celebrations

It seems the summer months are always filled with celebrations. Birthdays, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Graduations, Anniversaries, Weddings, Mother's Day and Father's Day!

I recently celebrated my 28th wedding anniversary. My wedding took place at my friend's Encino Estate, an exact replica of The Beverly Hills Hotel in all it's pink and green splendor.

The sun was going down. The main floor bedrooms were filled with the bridal party. One of my maids of honor was pinning baby's breath into my up-do of soft curls while a videographer asked me trivial questions and I nervously bit my lipstick off.  The string quartet was greeting the guests with Canon in D. Rows of white wooden chairs were filling up with friends and family, while lilies and candles floated in the kidney-shaped pool. This was my dream wedding, like a scene out of a movie.

"It's time darling." My friend Sue said, in her English school-girl best. I took a deep breath and let out a silent scream of excitement. I was shaking, pacing and humming, I always hum when I'm nervous.

My husband to be, Paul and I had decided to walk down the aisle by ourselves. After all, we were 30 somethings. So I watched as family members and the bridal party walked down the aisle and took their places and now it was my turn. I walked to the paned glass doorframe that led to the yard, overflowing with friends and family and stopped dead in my tracks. Something didn't feel right. This wasn't a dress rehearsal. There were no re-dos.

I waved to one of my bridesmaids and mouthed, "Come here.

Please, hurry, go get my dad."

Our teary eyes met and we were grinning from ear to ear. He took my hand and we walked down the aisle to thunderous applause.

      Summer 2016

      Summer 2016

I love summer. Especially when my garden is in full bloom. I saw this fuchsia ice plant growing on my neighbor's hillside and thought, “I’d like to wake up to that!

       #TraderJoes has TULIPS.

Life can be so challenging and spending $5.99 can take the edge off. Be kind to yourself.

All my favorite summer fruits are showing up at the Farmer’s Market, like these Gaviota Strawberries, very low acid and super sweet and firm! #HarrysBerries

Cherries from #TenerelliOrchards – When you see Wolfgang Puck buying his fruit there you know it’s the BEST!

Also, I'm LOVING my porcelain berry basket from #crateandbarrel. It comes in three other colors, but white is my favorite! And the best thing is they’re only $4.95. It looks small in the picture, but it’s a pint size!

      Creating

      Creating

My name is Franne Golde, and I love creating! In 1980, I came out to Los Angeles to pursue my songwriting career and never looked back.

Lingering in the background of everything I’ve ever done, though, has been my love for anything fashion. It's been an incredible outlet for me. Creating keeps me alive and brings me joy!

I never imagined what life had in store for me. Getting to work with Diana Ross, Heart, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, The Commodores, Selena, Faith Hill, among others and being honored with numerous awards was truly a dream come true!

Now I invite you to join me on this next leg of my journey and introduce you to the most comfortable, incredible fitting, and flattering pants, as well as the rest of my passionately sculpted collection!

No life is perfect and for me it’s always been creativity that pulls me through.
I encourage you to always use yours and be the reflection that inspires others.
