Valentine's Day
POSTED BY FRANNE GOLDE · FEBRUARY 14, 2018

Valentine’s Day is my favorite holiday! It’s a day that’s all about spreading love and kindness, something I try to do everyday. On Valentine’s Day, though, I like to do something extra special.
For many years I’ve passed around “Love Fortunes,” chocolate dipped fortune cookies that are individually wrapped. Anyone who crosses my path gets one. UPS drivers, car attendants, postmen, servers, homeless people, children, cashiers, doctors, dentists, teachers, street cleaners, building attendants. The list goes on…
People are always surprised to get a random gift and are always so appreciative. It’s much more of a gift to the one giving. That I know for sure.
When I was growing up in Chicago, my neighbor—Mr. Love, who was so appropriately named—would always carry peppermint wheels and butterscotch drops in his pockets. You’d get a special treat every time you’d run into him. I always loved that and hope, in some small way, I’m carrying on his tradition!

“There is no remedy for love but to love more."
Henry David Thoreau
